Fox’s The Masked Singer is my Wednesday night guilty pleasure, and during the first round of the competition America was introduced to a teen heartthrob…dressed as a rocker turtle.

During the Valentine’s Day episode, the Turtle took the stage to perform Shawn Mendes‘ “There’s Nothing Holding Me Back” and even broke out a few dance moves. After the end of his performance, the Turtle pulled out a Valentine addressed to non other than judge and panelist Nicole Scherzinger, and told her that he enjoyed the morning they spent together.

Scherzinger, confused by the Valentine clue, guessed that Hunter Hayes could be behind the Turtle mask. Other panelists guessed Nick Lachey, Jaden Smith, Nick Carter, and Jesse McCartney.

Now, it wouldn’t be a total shock if Hayes was the Turtle, despite the obvious height discrepancy (Hayes is around 5’6″ and Turtle is about the same height as host Nick Cannon [6’0″]). According to Hayes’ Instagram, he has been in Los Angeles a lot since the New Year started, and he does have new music out so the show would be the perfect opportunity to promote that.

Okay, now hear me out. I think the rockin’ turtle is none other than teen heartthrob Jesse McCartney!

Not only is that voice is unrecognizable (McCartney has told me many times via my speakers that he wants my beautiful soul!), but he basically spelled it out for us.

In the first episode, Turtle wrote “Don’t Rave Ever At My School – Turtle” and that spells out DREAM ST., the name of McCartney’s band before he went solo. And, McCartney did spend a morning with Nicole Scherzinger…on the Today Show!

So the turtle may not be Hayes, but hey, there’s still another round of contestants left and crazier things have happened!
